Physical Education

    Physical Education – 7-9

    The focus of this course is the application of movement skills and knowledge to individual and team physical activities; the assessment and maintenance of physical fitness to improve health and performance, and the knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles and strategies. Units of activity include: physical fitness testing (Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge), individual & team sports which include outdoor activities as well as indoor sports. Some of the activities include : flag football; soccer; lacrosse; volleyball; basketball; floor hockey; softball; team handball/ultimate Frisbee; badminton/ping pong; speed-a-way; dodge ball; and cooperative games.

    Physical Education 10-12

    Through this course students will participate in a variety of team and individual sports and games. During these activities, students will be required to conduct themselves according to appropriate etiquette and a high level of sportsmanship. By experiencing a broad range of sports and activities it is hoped that students will be encouraged to stay fit and active throughout their lives.

    Weightlifting

    Students will:

    • Learn safe lifting procedures and techniques.
    • Improve the stamina/conditioning of each student.
    • Encourage the “hard work “ ethic.Help each student become faster and stronger at the conclusion of the course.
